Ndigbo Have No Regret Voting For PDP, Says Ekweremadu
RE-ELECTED Deputy Senate President (DSP), Ike Ekweremadu, yesterday restated that the decision of majority of the people of South East geo-political zone of Nigeria to vote for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was a good decision they should be proud of.
This is coming on the heels of the Archbishop of Enugu Ecclesiastical Province, Emmanuel Chukwuma urging Ndigbo to support Ekweremadu to give Ndigbo a political direction. He stated that Ndigbo must stick together for the promotion of her people, calling on senators from the southeast to integrate an agenda for the development of the zone.
Speaking on arrival at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, the Deputy Senate President, said given another opportunity, Ndigbo will vote in the same manner.
Ekweremadu, who is also the Speaker of ECOWAS Parliament, called on President Muhamadu Buhari to accommodate all Nigerians, irrespective of party and ethnic inclinations.
“We have no regret, Igbos have no regret for the way they voted; if given the opportunity again, they will vote in the same manner. We are convinced we voted rightly, and because we believe we are part and parcel of this country, we believe what we got is within our right. So, we expect that APC should be able to accommodate the people of South South, as they form their government.
“We should also remember that Buhari got about 15 million votes; we have more than 150 million Nigerians, so, he is not the president of 15 million people, but all the tribes.
“In fact that was why when we saw that it appears that South East and South South were being marginalised in the scheme of things, we decided to take a shot so that our people will be part and parcel of government, so that every part of Nigeria will have a sense of belonging.
