Senator representing Borno South, Mohammed Ali Ndume, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to urgently address the escalating prices of fuel, food, and essential goods, warning that many Nigerians are struggling to cope.

Ndume in a statement pointed to a growing crisis affecting the average citizen, particularly the poor.

He accused certain individuals of undermining the Tinubu administration by promoting policies that exacerbate the hardships faced by Nigerians instead of focusing on controlling inflation and stabilizing the economy.

“These elements are trying to create a rift between the people and the administration,” he said.

Ndume expressed his belief that President Tinubu genuinely wants to improve the lives of Nigerians, but he cautioned that some advisers may be steering him in the wrong direction.

“I urge the President to be wary of these influences that seek to harm his reputation and the welfare of the people,” he stated.

The senator highlighted the acute situation in Borno State, where many families are unable to afford necessities.

“Farmers can’t transport their goods due to skyrocketing transportation costs, and this is driving food prices even higher,” he explained.

He added, “The cost of traveling has also become exorbitant. Many cannot afford to journey from Abuja to Maiduguri, and the hardship inflicted by these price hikes is unimaginable.”

Ndume urged the president to prioritize these pressing issues upon his return to Nigeria, emphasizing that the purchasing power of Nigerians is critically low.

“It is vital not to test the patience of the populace, and I plead for swift action to alleviate their suffering.”
