Dogara lauds Tinubu’s educational policies
Ahead of the official opening of the student loan portal for the 2025/2026 academic session, the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has called on accredited tertiary institutions nationwide to update their existing student records and upload the details of all their students.
The agency tasked institutions to upload students’ records for both returning and newly admitted students on the NELFUND Student Verification Portal.
In a statement by the Director of Strategic Communications, Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, NELFUND stated that only students whose details have been duly uploaded and verified through their respective institutions would be eligible to apply for and benefit from the loan scheme.
The spokesperson stated that the proactive exercise is designed to ensure a seamless verification and loan application process for students once the portal opens.
She stressed that institutions are required to ensure that each student’s data is accurately captured and uploaded using the admission number or any other unique and verifiable identifier.
Similarly, former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, has hailed President Bola Tinubu for his education policies, particularly the NELFUND.
He spoke at the Federal University of Lokoja while delivering a special public lecture titled “Empowering the Future Generation: The Founders’ Vision and Legacy.”
The programme was part of the institution’s week-long activities for its ninth convocation.
According to Dogara, “the President deserves commendation, especially for the establishment of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND),” which he stressed has given hope to students whose educational dreams would have been cut short due to a lack of funds.
“Education remains our most powerful weapon against poverty, ignorance and underdevelopment. It is the idea of planting seeds of hope, creating pathways to opportunity, and building a place where talents are refined and human potential is unlocked,” he added.
