Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) and Governor of Kwara State, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, on Thursday led a delegation of state governors on a condolence visit to Plateau State following the recent outbreak of violence in parts of the state.

The visit to Jos was aimed at expressing solidarity with the people and government of Plateau, particularly in the wake of violent attacks that claimed several lives and left many communities in mourning.

Governor Abdulrazaq, accompanied by his counterparts from Borno, Bauchi, Benue, and Oyo States, as well as the Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, was received by Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang.

Addressing the media after the visit, Governor Abdulrazaq extended heartfelt condolences on behalf of the Forum and urged all stakeholders in Plateau to rally behind efforts to restore lasting peace.

“We call on leaders and influencers across all communities and sectors in Plateau to join His Excellency in the task of uniting the people and restoring sustainable peace,” he said. “Youth leaders, elders, and stakeholders must come together to speak unequivocally against violence in all forms.”

Governor Abdulrazaq emphasised the importance of resolving differences through dialogue, mutual respect, and inclusive negotiations, warning that sustained unrest could jeopardise the state’s development potential.

“Plateau holds great promise, especially in agriculture and tourism, but this promise risks being overshadowed if violence or threats of it become the dominant narrative,” he said.
He commended Governor Mutfwang for his leadership in managing the crisis and applauded the efforts of security agencies for containing the situation and preventing further escalation.
The NGF delegation concluded the visit by offering prayers for the victims and for the restoration of peace across affected communities.
