The farmers in Takalafiya community in Lapai Local Council of Niger State have expressed delight over the successful payment of compensation to the affected landowners whose farmlands were acquired for development purposes by Elin Group Limited.
The payment exercise, held at the Lapai Emirate Council on 6th October 2025, was described by community leaders as transparent, well-organised, and a major step toward strengthening partnership between the host community and the company.
The Village Head of Takalafiya, Alhaji Usman Sarki Noma, commended the Lapai Emirate Council and Elin Group for ensuring that every eligible farmer received fair and timely compensation.
He noted that the payment would go a long way toward empowering farmers in the community to expand into larger-scale agricultural production.
“The entire process was peaceful and satisfactory. Everyone received payment according to the crops on their land, and the community feels respected and carried along,” Usman said.
He further expressed gratitude to Elin Group for keeping its commitments and showing genuine concern for the welfare of the people.
“We deeply appreciate the Emirate Council for guiding the process and thank Elin Group for honouring its word and demonstrating goodwill to our people,” he added.
