Niger NLC restates payment of N80,000 minimum wage by month end
The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Niger Chapter has restated that the payment of N80,000 minimum wage to workers across the board by the state government at the end of this month remains sacrosanct.
State NLC Chairman, Abdulkareem Idris Lafene, made the emphasis in an interview with The Guardian at the weekend in Minna.
He explained that the NLC was ensuring that the government commences implementation of the new wage by month-end, as promised by Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago.
Lafene commended the statve government for the successful signing of the new minimum wage agreement between the NLC and the executive.
He also disclosed that the government had promised to pay 10 per cent of the consequential adjustment of the new minimum wage by January.
The NLC boss stressed that so far, the union had finalised modalities for the effective take-off of the new minimum wage.
He urged workers to redouble their efforts towards the realisation of the new Niger dream of Governor Bago.
