Niger State government has restricted the movement of commercial motorcycles, known as Okada and tricycle operators called Keke Napep from 9:00pm to 6:00am.

In a statement issued by Secretary to the State Government, Ahmed Ibrahim Matene, government said the restriction was as a result of fracas and youth restiveness in Minna metropolis, which led to looting and destruction of property. The restriction order commenced from April 9, 2021.

The statement further warned of strict compliance with laid down traffic rules and regulations, which include the use of reflective jackets and plate numbers.

It also added that during the restriction, there would be stop and search of other vehicles that are allowed movement within the period by security agents.

It enjoined security agencies to ensure effective and strict compliance/enforcement of the guidelines to safeguard the life and property of every peace loving person in the state.
