Nigeria targets $500m investment as ACCI unveils maiden AGROMEQA Expo 2026

Vice President Kashim Shettima

The Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) has unveiled plans for the maiden edition of AGROMEQA Expo 2026, a major agricultural investment and technology event expected to attract about $500 million in commitments to Nigeria’s agro-industrial sector.

The announcement was made on Tuesday in Abuja during a press conference where ACCI President, Emeka Obegolu, SAN, PhD, was represented by the 2nd Deputy President, Aliyu Idi Hong. The expo, organised in collaboration with JMT Plus Farms and Agro-Allied and the Agricultural Trade Group, will take place from June 10 to 11, 2026, at the Prince Adetokunbo Kayode Trade and Convention Centre, under the theme “Technology and Investment for Agro-Export.”

AGROMEQA Expo 2026 is designed as a strategic platform to accelerate agricultural mechanisation, improve export standards, and unlock investment opportunities across Nigeria’s agribusiness value chain, bringing together policymakers, agribusiness investors, farmers, financial institutions, and development partners. The Vice President, Kashim Shettima, is expected to officially declare the event open, while the President of Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce Industry Mines and Agriculture, Jani Ibrahim, will deliver a keynote address on the role of private capital in driving agricultural exports.

Between 470 and 500 exhibitors are expected at the expo, which will feature exhibitions of modern farming technologies such as mechanised equipment, irrigation systems, precision tools, and climate-smart solutions, alongside plenary sessions, technical discussions, and business-to-business engagements designed to drive partnerships, investment deals, and technology transfer. A dedicated agro-processing and packaging segment will highlight opportunities for local value addition, while a live demonstration arena will showcase advanced farming solutions, with a schools’ agricultural competition included to encourage youth participation in agritech innovation.

The initiative also reflects growing efforts to address challenges within the sector, including the persistent farmer-herder dispute in parts of Nigeria, by promoting structured, mechanised, and modern farming systems that reduce pressure on land and encourage more sustainable practices.

Aligned with Nigeria’s priorities on food security, job creation, and economic diversification, increased access to mechanised farming is expected to boost productivity, support smallholder farmers, and strengthen rural economies.

AGROMEQA Expo 2026 is projected to position Nigeria as a key player in agro-export across Africa, while fostering long-term growth through investment mobilisation, innovation, and stronger market linkages, with stakeholders across the public and private sectors encouraged to participate and the media expected to provide broad coverage to enhance awareness and engagement.
