Activist and human rights lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, has called on the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr Olanipekun Olukoyede, to disclose and prosecute dismissed officers within the agency. He argued that such action would serve as a deterrent to others.

Speaking in Abuja yesterday, Adeyanju expressed concern over persistent allegations of corruption, abuse of power, and other unethical practices within the EFCC, describing them as unacceptable for an organisation tasked with combating economic and financial crimes in Nigeria.

“I am calling on the chairman to disclose the officers who were dismissed and prosecute them so that it serves as a deterrence to others,” Adeyanju stated. He commended Olukoyede for his leadership and commitment to the EFCC’s mission, saying only by upholding the commission’s core values can Nigerians trust the EFCC as a credible force in the fight against corruption.

“This bold move by Mr Olanipekun Olukoyede, the executive chairman of the EFCC, is strongly encouraged, as it demonstrates a commitment to restoring the credibility of the EFCC,” Adeyanju added, urging Nigerians to support the agency’s efforts in tackling corruption.
