Commercial activities were beefed up on Monday at the 8th National Youth Games in Asaba, Delta State, as traders and food vendors from across the country set up stalls and canopies in front of Stephen Keshi Stadium, the venue of the 8th National Youth Games, to display and sell their goods.

As the games progress, businessmen and women are optimistic that it will be a bumper harvest for them, given the number of people coming to participate in the tournament.

While praising the organisers for giving them the opportunity to sell their goods, they assured offering various goods and services at normal prices to potential buyers during the competition, which runs for 10 days (September 9 to 19, 2024).

Vendors were seen displaying shoes, sportswear, clothing, food items, and refreshments, awaiting athletes and spectators’ patronage.

Speaking to The Guardian in Asaba on Monday, some of the traders, who were excited, applauded the Delta State government for providing security and a clean environment for the sports to thrive.

Mr. Money Stop Nonsense, Mrs. Faith Christopher, Mrs. Agia, and others commended the clean and well-maintained stadium environment, saying it will provide a conducive atmosphere for trade.

Mr. Sunday Okonkwo, a footwear trader from Anambra, who is a regular participant at the event hosted in Delta State, said that since previous engagements had been profitable, “I’m looking forward to another successful outing this year.”

He wished the athletes well, anticipating a steady flow of business throughout the games.
