Former Lagos State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in the 2023 election, Dr. Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran, a.k.a Jandor, has paid glowing tributes to former Secretary to the Lagos State Government, the late Princess Adenrele Adeniran-Ogunsanya, who died three years ago.
Speaking under the aegis of Lagos4Lagos Movement, a political platform she led before her demise, Jandor, who also organised the memorial service, described her as a committed matriarch, who led the movement from the front to where it is politically today, noting that it would be difficult to forget her efforts and contributions.
“Princess was an exemplary leader, who led from the front and supported us at a time when it was too dangerously unfashionable to identify with our group; she stood by us,” he said.
Jandor, also perceived as natural, the current state of political disarray the opposition parties in the country is today. He noted that to get it right, the opposition parties need “to go back to the drawing board and see how to outsmart the ruling party”.
In his message at the memorial service, Bishop Funsho Awe of the Anglican Communion Lagos, described the late Adeniran-Ogunsanya as “a loyal and dedicated leader of the Lagos4Lagos Movement.” He admonished politicians to be careful of what they do today because of the day of resurrection.
“There is no leader that have passed that we did not remember. I am surprised when some people behave as if they are God, most especially when they have money and power,” he said.
Awe also described the late matriarch as one of those who laboured for a change in Lagos, noting that Jandor is a product of that change. He advised Lagosians and Nigerians at large to put on their thinking caps and work harder towards the next dispensation. The memorial service was attended by politicians and members of the Lagos4Lagos Movement.
