Precisely a week after Governor Seyi Makinde dissolved the Park Management System (PMS) and sacked its former chairman, Mukaila Lamidi ,aka Auxiliary, the governor has  explained that the ex-PMS chairman was removed because there could be no two governors in  the state.

The Guardian had reported last week that the former PMS chairman was sacked when he refused to comply with Makinde’s directives to work alongside the rival National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW).

The governor explained that it was not as if there were no hoodlums during the last elections, but the union members were  called and intimated about the new Oyo State that we wanted.

“We told them that we don’t want fights inside our motor parks every time. We told them, don’t fight anybody and that if we are re-elected, we would ensure we unite you, so that every faction can get what belongs to it and the government can operate in the atmosphere of peace.

“But one of them said he can’t work with others. So I said two governments cannot operate in the state. There will only be one government in the state,” the governor explained.

Meanwhile, the governor had announced the former Secretary of the disbanded PMS, Oluwatomiwa Omolewa, as the new chairman of PMS.

This was contained in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Sulaimon Olanrewaju, who also announced Kasali Lawal, aka Baba Bola, as the Secretary.

The statement said the appointment was part of the reorganisation of the PMS embarked upon by the state government.

MEANWHILE, barely 24 hours after the inauguration of the new Executive Council members of the PMS in Oyo State, normal activities have  resumed at the various motor parks in Ibadan, the state capital.

The parks were closed and manned by armed security officers last week when Auxiliary’s was sacked.

Visits to some major parks within the Ibadan metropolis showed that transporters have moved into the multi-billion naira Bus Terminal at both the Challenge and the Ojoo areas, which had been shut after the ousting of the fleeing of Auxiliary.
