The family of a University of Uyo student who was abducted has expressed deep concern after the victim remained in captivity despite the payment of ₦500,000 as ransom to the kidnappers.

According to the family, the abductors had initially demanded ransom before negotiations led to the payment in a bid to secure the student’s release. However, they said the victim has not been freed and there has been no further communication from the kidnappers.

The relatives described the situation as distressing, adding that they are now left in uncertainty over the whereabouts and condition of the student.

They explained that all efforts to secure her release have so far yielded no result, despite meeting the financial demand communicated by the abductors.

The family called on security agencies to intensify efforts to locate and rescue the student, stressing that the silence from the kidnappers has heightened fears for her safety.

Authorities have yet to issue an updated statement on the incident as investigations and search efforts continue.
