Activist lauds emergence of Odiri Sagboje as NYCN leader

United Kingdom-based social activist, Ifeanyi Samson, has lauded the emergence of Odiri Milton Sagboje as the Chairman, National Youth Council of Nigeria(NYCN), Delta State hapter, calling it a step in the right direction.

In a statement on Friday, Samson said he was particularly thrilled about the development, urging Sagboje to use his new position to uplift the youth of Delta State and serve as a bridge between their aspirations and the opportunities that can transform their future.

The statement read in part:  “This is not merely a personal achievement but a call to responsible and visionary leadership. The youth of Delta State have placed their trust in you, and with that comes the duty to serve as a bridge between their aspirations and the opportunities that can transform their future.

“As you assume this noble role, I encourage you to make the office a true platform for justice, inclusion, and progress. Leadership must go beyond titles and privileges; it must reflect sacrifice, fairness, and accountability. The young people of Delta State are yearning for a leader who will defend their rights and be a consistent voice against injustice; promote inclusivity by ensuring that no group or community is left behind; advocate for empowerment opportunities, particularly in education, skills development, and employment; foster unity and collaboration across political, ethnic, and social lines for the greater good of all Deltans.

“History will not measure your success by the position you hold, but by the positive impact you create in the lives of those you represent. The NYCN must stand as a force for good governance, accountability, and social justice, and I trust your leadership will embody these principles.

“Once again, congratulations Comrade Sagboje. May your tenure bring hope, transformation, and a renewed sense of purpose to every Delta youth”.

Sagboje, before his emergence as NYCN chairman, Delta State chapter, was a renowned youth advocate and Executive Director of the Delta Ecosystem Restoration Initiative (DERI).
