AIG tasks officers on professionalism, warns against brutality

The Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Zone 12, Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, has charged operatives of the Bauchi State Police Command to abide by the oath taken upon joining the force. Aliyu stated this while interacting with officers and men of the command on Wednesday.

The newly posted AIG warned the officers to avoid unprofessional conduct and to remain accountable to the people. During his address to the command personnel, the AIG emphasised the importance of upholding the oath they took, reminding them that they are here to serve humanity, including protecting the rights of both humans and animals.

He stressed that human rights are enshrined in Chapter Four of the Nigerian Constitution of 1999. He warned the personnel to refrain from brutalising the people they are employed to protect.

Also, the Commissioner of Police, Bauchi State Command, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, noted that the security measures implemented in the command have resulted in peace being enjoyed in the state.

“It may interest you to know that the command has recorded zero student abductions, reflecting the impact of our visibility policing and intelligence-led operations. To consolidate these gains, and in line with the Inspector-General of Police’s initiative to provide a secure atmosphere for institutions of learning across the country, the command is on the verge of launching the IGP’s Safe School Protection Squad,” he said.

According to him, this squad will be equipped with state-of-the-art, real-time intelligence-gathering tools and highly trained personnel dedicated to safeguarding educational institutions across the state.

Aliyu expressed gratitude for the AIG’s visit, stating that it has provided renewed strength and direction, reaffirming his leadership’s commitment to operational excellence. He also appreciated the presence and support of his Zone 12 police boss.
