Akpata to deliver Wellspring Varsity’s 12th Convocation lecture
The management of Wellspring University in Edo State, on Friday, unveiled activities for its 12th convocation ceremonies.
Speaking in Benin City, the Edo State capital, during a briefing on activities to herald the 12th convocation ceremonies of the institution, Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Isaac Rotimi Ajayi, revealed that the Chairman, Rusa Advisory and immediate past Country Senior Partner (PwC) Nigeria and Regional Senior Partner West Africa, Dr. Uyi Akpata, would deliver the convocation lecture.
Ajayi said that the 12th convocation would be preceded by a convocation lecture on the topic, “Positioning for global competitiveness and great societal impact” to be delivered by Dr. Uyi Akpata.
“All the activities will culminate, D.V. in the convocation event, on Friday, October 18, 2024 at 9.00 am where the Chancellor of the University, Pastor Ituah Ighodalo, would confer First and Higher degrees on deserving graduands.
“ The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, of the University, Ambassador Daniel Isimoya and the Chairman of, the Board of Trustees, Major General Ephraim Usiade, Rtd. will also address the convocation.
“This academic harvest will be preceded by a convocation lecture on the topic: Positioning for global competitiveness and great societal impact to be delivered by Dr. Uyi Akpata, Chairman, Rusa Advisory and immediate past Country Senior Partner PwC Nigeria and Regional Senior Partner West Africa. “
He added that a significant event that is included in the 12th convocation activities is the induction of its graduates in computer science, software engineering and cybersecurity into the Computer Professional Registration Council of Nigeria before their graduation.
“The induction ceremony is to be performed for the graduates by the Registration Council in the University Multipurpose. The induction is coming after the graduates have fully met all the professional requirements of the Council and lending credence to the quality of professional training we offer to our graduates. “Ajayi said.
Ajayi noted that during the 12th Convocation, the university will be presenting a total of 149 candidates for graduation, saying 67 will be graduating with First Degrees and 82 with postgraduate Diplomas and Masters degrees.
“The statistics of the First Degree graduands shows that only three (5%) graduands made First Class, 33 (49%) made Second Class, Upper Division, 25 (37%) made Second Class, Lower Division and 6 (9%) are Other categories. n the postgraduate category, 46 are graduating with postgraduate Diplomas while 36 are graduating with masters degrees in various courses. “ Ajayi added.
