The Executive Chairman, Epe Local Government, Princess Surah Animashaun, has performed the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a museum and library centres in Epe Local Government.
Speaking at the ceremony, she disclosed that creating a museum within Epe Local Government Area (LGA) was crucial for safeguarding and preserving our cultural heritage and displaying our rich cultural history to the outside world.
“The museum will serve as a repository of our collective and shared memories, containing relics, exhibits, and interactions that tell the story of our community’s evolution and monumental development,” she said.
“This will not just boost residents’ pride but will also help the local economy by increasing tourism revenue.”
She noted that the museum will serve as a valuable educational tool for children to have hands-on learning opportunities that will bring history to life.
“Students can develop a stronger sense of belonging and deepen their cultural roots by exploring the museum’s artefacts,” she said.
Animashaun added that this, in turn, will motivate a new generation of leaders, innovators, and influencers who are ready to mold the future of our society to attain a global pedestal.
She said the library will provide an extensive range and collection of digital and print resources, such as e-books, online databases, and multimedia materials.
“This will allow students and researchers to access a vast amount of information, conduct research, and enhance critical thinking skills,” she said.
She said the library will offer a collaborative learning space, furnished with state-of-the-art technology, facilitating group work, idea sharing, and the discovery of innovative concepts.
The Chairman further stated that by establishing a museum and setting up a contemporary library, “we can create a vibrant cultural and intellectual centre that enriches the experiences of both our locals and tourists alike.
“These establishments will not just protect and preserve our history but also foster a culture of learning, creativity, and advancement that will propel our LGA forward.”
