Concerned sons and daughters of Ikoga-Zebbe, Badagry, Lagos, have written to Mr Babatunde Ogala, SAN, the Chairman of the Governing Council of Lagos State University (LASU), to ensure justice in what they termed the wrongful dismissal of their son, Dr Tony Dansu, and four other lecturers of the institution.
These officers, Dr Isaac Akinloye Oyewumi (Chairman), Dr Adebowale Adeyemi-Suenu (Vice Chairman), Dr Anthony Dansu (Secretary), Dr Adeolu Oluwaseyi Oyekan (Assistant Secretary) and Dr Oluwakemi Adebisi Aboderin-Shonibare (Treasurer), they claimed were wrongfully and illegally dismissed from the services of the university in 2017 and 2019.
In the letter signed by James Babatunde Avoseh, Dr Mayowa John Adejobi, Tinka Gigonou Gabriel, Ademola Akoteyon Bokoh, Francis Pedepo Avoseh, and Medemaku Abayomi Noah, for concerned sons and daughters of Ikoga-Zebbe, they congratulated Ogala for his well-deserved position and prayed God to give him the good health, wisdom and strength to steer the university to greater heights.
Alleging victimisation, they stressed that for some time, notable sons and daughters of Ikoga-Zebbe Kingdom in Badagry Local Council of Lagos engaged in a series of activities, such as peaceful rallies, issuance of press statements and writing of letters to those in authority in Lagos, on the above subject matter.
“Our request has been that Mr Governor should lift the reported embargo his government placed on the implementation of the decision of LASU Governing Council on February 23, 2022, to the effect that our illustrious son, Dr Tony Dansu, and the other four ASUU-LASU officials, who were wrongfully and illegally dismissed from the services of the university in 2017 and 2019, be reinstated unconditionally, paid all accrued entitlements and benefits, and given all promotions merited without loss of seniority and entitlements.
“We were elated when we received information that the immediate past Governing Council, at its meeting of July 3, 2025, upheld the recommendations of its Appeals Committee,”headed by your good self, that the requests above be formalised, alongside the offer by the affected ASUU-LASU officials to withdraw their services from the university immediately after implementation voluntarily. We understand the decision to mean a clear directive to the university administration to finalise the discussions with them with a view to making the same a binding agreement between the two parties through its submission as consent judgment to the industrial court.
Sadly, about five months after this decision, we are yet to see any positive result!”
