Biafra: Ebonyi residents defy IPOB’s sit-at-home order

The sit-at-home called by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) to mark the anniversary of Biafra was a total flop in Ebonyi State, as residents on Friday went about their normal daily activities unharmed.

Though there were heavily armed police personnel in some strategic locations in the state. They quickly disappeared when it was clear that the people were going about their normal business.

When our correspondent visited the metropolis, non-compliance was witnessed with business activities in operation, and major roads were blocked due to traffic.

Banks, schools, markets, government offices, motor parks, as well as some other private institutions, were all in full operation.

At the busy Waterworks road, section of Ogoja road and Afikpo road, Gunning street, and Afikpo street, there was heavy traffic as people experienced difficulties going to their work and business places.

A worker at one of the major motor parks told the Guardian that people are tired of the IPOB’s ways of seeking their agitation, noting that sitting at home is not the best option.
