About six persons have been killed following a land dispute between the people of Umuobor, Akaeze and Ogwor, Ishiagu in Ivo Local Council of Ebonyi State.
Two decomposing bodies were recovered in the bush where they were dumped.
The Guardian gathered that the two neighbours have been on a warpath for over five decades over a fertile land called Elueke with many lives lost and properties destroyed. The land tussle became intractable four months ago with more killings, abductions and destructions.
Reacting on the incident, spokesperson for the state police command, DSP Joshua Ukandu said that the Command has not received any report of the incident from Ivo police division.
He, however, said that someone from the Ivo local government called him and informed him of the incident.
Last weekend, a truck driver from Imo State who was plying Ishiagu/Okigwe expressway was killed on the Ayaragu axis of the expressway by suspected warlords.
On Tuesday this week, four persons were killed by the warlords.
Two decomposing bodies were also recovered and handed over to the military on peacekeeping in Akaeze/Ishiagu expressway.
A source from one of the warring communities who spoke on the grounds of anonymity said: “Just yesterday, a total of four persons were killed in Arbor Akaeze. Two extra bodies were recovered today and taken to the army checkpoint in Akaeze.
“The state government’s silence and remote actions have continued to encourage more killings, maiming and abduction of innocent people of Akaeze and Ishiagu communities, and even non-Ebonyi people,” the source lamented.
