A federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court sitting in Apo, Abuja, has remanded Jubrin Buba, an officer of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), in the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) facility in Kuje.

He was remanded for failing to appear for trial regarding forgery allegations brought against him by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC). Buba is facing trial for offences related to forgery and making false statements to a public officer.

The ICPC alleges that Buba, in February 2015, presented a forged Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree certificate in Public Administration, dated October 7, 2009, supposedly issued by the University of Jos (UNIJOS), in order to secure employment with NSCDC.

The use of a forged document violates Section 366 of the Penal Code and is punishable under Section 364. Buba was initially arraigned in 2022 before Justice Asma’uAkanbi at the FCT High Court in Kubwa and was granted bail on lenient terms.

However, due to Justice Akanbi’s elevation to the Court of Appeal, the case was reassigned to Justice BintaDogonyaro of FCT High Court 46 in Apo.

Despite receiving proper notice, Buba failed to appear for the scheduled arraignment on January 22, 2025. Consequently, a bench warrant was issued for his arrest, and he was apprehended and arraigned on June 26, 2025.

During the proceedings, the court revoked Buba’s previous bail and ordered that he be remanded in KujeNCoS facility. The case has been adjourned for hearing till October 27 and 28.
