Operatives of the Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps, also known as So-Safe, have arrested a former student of Tai Solarin Federal University of Education, Ijagun, Ogun State, over alleged cult-related activities in Ogbo community, Ijagun.

The suspect, Abiola Sunday, 25, was arrested after months of surveillance by operatives of the corps over allegations that he had been terrorising residents of Ogbo community and neighbouring areas.

The Corps Commander, Soji Ganzallo, confirmed the arrest yesterday in Abeokuta in a statement issued by the Director of Information and Public Relations of the corps, Assistant Commander Adegunwa Adegbuyi.

Ganzallo said the arrest followed intelligence received by the Acting Area Commander of Leguru Area Command, CSC Owoseni Joshua, indicating that the suspect was sighted in Ifesowapo Community. He said the intelligence prompted the swift mobilisation of operatives to the area, leading to the suspect’s arrest.

According to the commander, the suspect is an alleged member of the Aiye confraternity and had previously evaded arrest after being accused of cultism. He said a surveillance team was subsequently set up to track him down.

“The 25-year-old suspect, Abiola Sunday, a resident of Imosan, was apprehended after months of surveillance,” the statement said.

It added: “Abiola, a former student of Tai Solarin Federal University of Education, Ijagun, is a known member of the Aiye confraternity within Ogbo community, Ijagun, and has been a terror to residents and visitors alike.”

Ganzallo said the suspect had been handed over to the Nigeria Police Force, Igbeba Area Command, Ijebu-Ode, for further investigation and possible prosecution.

He assured residents of the state that the So-Safe Corps would continue to collaborate with other sister security agencies to protect lives and property across Ogun State.
