It was a gloomy Easter Sunday in Kaduna as three CNG-powered luxury buses belonging to Silver Transport Company were destroyed in an early morning explosion at Mando Motor Park.
Meanwhile, the Kaduna State Police Command has confirmed that the explosion was not a bomb, as previously stated.
The unfortunate incident occurred about 3.00am when the vehicles were parked in preparation for interstate trips later in the day.
Besides, a manager with one of the logistics companies operating within the park, on condition of anonymity, said the explosion happened while the vehicles were stationary.
While stating that the buses were newly purchased, the manager thanked God that no one was inside the vehicles during the explosion.
“These vehicles are using CNG. We are not matured enough to use them,” he said.
The source said operatives of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) and other relevant agencies were at the scene to determine the cause of the explosion and extent of damages.
The command said, “We wish to set the record straight regarding reports of an alleged explosion in Kaduna by some media. On April 4, 2026, about 0300 hours, a loud sound was reported at Silver Luxury Travel, a luxurious bus travelling company at Mondo Motor Park.
The vehicles used gas instead of diesel or petrol at Mando Garage, Kaduna.”

Police spokesman in the State, DSP Mansir Hassan, said: “Upon receipt of the report, detectives were promptly dispatched to the scene. Preliminary findings revealed that the incident involved an LNG-propelled luxury bus belonging to Silver Luxury Travel, which exploded due to overfilling of its gas tank.
“The vehicle has since been evacuated to a safe location, and the area secured. No casualties or loss of property were recorded, and normal activities have resumed in the area.”
According to him, the Commissioner of Police (CP), Muhammad Rabiu, has since ordered a full investigation to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident to avoid future occurrence, and bomb disposal unit of the force has been dispatched to the scene.
The police urged members of the public to verify information before sharing, particularly on matters relating to security, as the spread of unverified reports can cause unnecessary panic.
