sIT is a struggle between life and death, and they are anxious for their son to live. This is the outcry of the parents of Alexander Chiagoziem Denwosu, who was born four years ago but is yet to know what life is all about because of his predicament, as he cannot sit down, cannot walk neither can he talk. The father brought him to The Guardian on Easter Monday, pleading for further assistance from kind-hearted Nigerians.

According to the father, Prince Ikenna Denwosu, who could not hide the state of his trauma bordering on the condition of his four-year-old son: “We are grateful to kind Nigerians that responded to our initial cry on the condition of Alexander, but the amount needed to operate Alexander is yet to be fully realized.”

Recalling what led to the unfortunate condition of Alexander, Prince Ikenna, who hails from Anambra State said the wife had a long labour when Alexander was to be born at Uli Health Centre in Ihiala Local Council of Anambra State and when he eventually came out of the mother’s womb, he did not cry for about 10 hours, which led to the nurses giving him an injection.

He added that despite the injection, he did not talk and it was later discovered as he continued to grow that, not only could he not talk but also could not sit down and could not walk.

“It was later on that a doctor said that instead of giving him an injection, he ought to have been given an oxygen.”

“Our hope was raised when we were informed that an Indian hospital could operate on Alexander. However, a total amount of N2.2 million would be required to carry out the operation. This led to our soliciting for the assistance of kind Nigerians to help us bring back life to Alexander and N500, 000 was raised which was below the amount needed for the surgery.”

“We have banked the money and are still appealing to Nigerians to help us raise the remaining balance of N1.7 million.”

“We have been on physiotherapy treatment on a weekly basis at the Abia State Teaching Hospital, Aba for muscular movement but this is still far from the answer to Alexander’s compounded problem.”

“He does not eat solid food, but bread, Golden Morn and soft food,” he said.

According to Prince Ikenna, the surgery to save his son ought to have been carried out in November, 2014 but because the amount was not complete, it had to be deferred.

He is pleading for assistance from kind Nigerians with amount sent to: Prince Ikenna Denwosu, Diamond Bank, A/c No. 0046435478. He could also be reached on these lines: 08183060444 and 08064539714
