After the Edo State gubernatorial election, five policemen deployed from Kano died in a road accident on Tuesday.

Besides, eight other men of the Kano State Police Command who sustained degrees of injury in the auto crash have been taken to hospital for treatment.

A reliable source from the command who confirmed the incident told The Guardian on Tuesday evening that the accident occurred along the Kano-Zaria Expressway.

“Sadly, they lost their lives at Karfi, when their vehicle had a head-on collision with a reversing trailer,” a source told The Guardian.

It was gathered that the driver of the trailer truck is among the eight survivors currently receiving treatment at a hospital in Kano.

Confirming the sad incident, Kano State Police Commissioner Salman Dogo in a telephone conversation said the Command is taking measures to ensure that the wounded officers receive adequate treatment and survive.
