Former Delta council boss charged with murder

FOR allegedly having a hand in the abduction and death of one Mr. Emeka Onianwa from wounds allegedly inflicted on him during the last
April 11 Governorship/House of Assembly elections, a former Transition Chairman of Oshimili North Local Council of Delta State, Mr. Innocent Esewezie has been docked at an Ibusa, Delta State Magistrate Court.

In Charge/No/MIB/48C/2015 signed by Mr. Bob College, a police officer, Esewezie is accused in a five-count charge of conspiring to commit felony to wit: murder and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 324 of the Criminal Code Law Cap.C21 Vol. 1Laws of Delta State, 2006.

The former Chairman, who is currently being detained at Ogwashi Uku Prisons, is also accused of unlawfully killing Onianwa by hitting him with several objects including knives, cutlasses and walking sticks at Umueze Camp and in the house of socialite, Chief Fred Ajudua, which caused his death on April 16.

He is also charged with causing grievous bodily harm and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 516 of the Criminal Code Law Cap.C21 Vol. Laws of Delta State, 2006.

Count four stated: “That you, Innocent Ezewenzie and others now at large in the same date and time at Umueze Camp area and in the
house of Fred Ajudua in Ibusa, Delta State, within the Ibusa Magisterial District sitting in Ibusa, during the Gubernatorial and House of Assembly elections unlawfully attacked one Ayo Okonkwo by hitting him with several objects including, cutlasses and walking sticks which caused him grievous harm as a result of which they were admitted at the Federal Medical Centre, Asaba and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 335 of the Criminal Code Law Cap. C21 Vol. 1 Laws of Delta State, 2006.”

Again, the ex-Chairman was docked for hitting one Mr. Azuka Okonkwo with several objects including knives, cutlasses, walking sticks which
caused him grievous harm.

Meanwhile, an Akwukwu-Igbo, Delta State High Court yesterday granted Mrs. Pat Ajudua, a member of the Delta State House of Assembly an injunction restraining the police from arresting her; her husband, Chief Fred Ajudua and 11 others who are at present being charged for the murder of Onianwa.
