Safety For Every Girl (SFEG) has partnered with MTN Nigeria to launch a nationwide social media competition aimed at amplifying women’s voices on safety issues.
The initiative, titled “Her Safety, Her Power” National Social Media Competition 2026, invites Nigerian females aged 13 and above to share personal experiences and propose solutions to safety challenges through short video storytelling.
Participants are required to produce 60 to 90-second videos responding to the prompt: “The day I felt unsafe as a Nigerian female.”
Entries should highlight personal experiences while suggesting practical ways to improve safety. Videos must be shared on Instagram, tagging @SafetyForEveryGirl and using the hashtag #HerSafetyHerPower. The competition closes on February 12, 2026.
The campaign offers a total prize pool of ₦1,250,000, with the grand prize set at ₦750,000, the second prize at ₦350,000, and the third prize at ₦150,000. The rewards are intended to recognise creativity, courage, and solutions-driven thinking.
The competition will culminate at the Safety For Every Girl Period Summit 2026 in Lagos on March 6, 2026. The summit will feature live showcases of finalist entries, the launch of The Power Awards recognising impact in safety advocacy, and panel discussions with policymakers, corporate leaders, and cultural influencers.
Chioma Nwigwe, founder of Safety For Every Girl, said: “By asking for their stories, we are honouring their truth. By asking for their solutions, we are investing in their insights. The prizes reflect the tangible value we place on their voices. ‘Her Safety, Her Power’ is more than a theme; it is an operational principle. We are creating a platform where fear can be translated into foresight and personal narrative can fuel a national movement for practical, woman-defined safety.”
The initiative noted the role of private sector support in promoting gender safety and youth engagement in digital advocacy. Through the competition, SFEG aims to position women’s safety as a key component of social and economic development, using individual narratives to drive collective change.
