Group tasks Amosun on good road network
THE Ado-Odo Development Foundation (ADF), Ogun State, has appealed to the state governor, Ibikunle Amosun, to extend his administration’s road reconstruction policy and other infrastructural facilities to Ado-Odo area, as part of his electioneering promises.
According a release signed by Alade Jimoh, the community has no single motorable road. He noted that the deplorable state of the only road linking Owode, Ado-Odo with Ikoga in Lagos State has worsened the economic fortunes of the town.
He added that the roads linking Atan with Ado-Odo through Alapoti and Alapoti with Oba Adesola (Lusada) market through Ketu are also in bad state.
Jimoh further lamented that as old as the town is, there is no general hospital despite setting aside about 87 hectares of land for the project since the late Chief Bisi Onabanjo administration’s between 1979 and 1983, with a building constructed on the site, which has now gone decrepit.
He emphasised the need for adequate and better political representation and appointments so as to have their own fair share in the polity of the state.
According to the community, Ado-Odo has no representation at the State Executive Council since 1983, when late Chief Alamu Alagbe served as the Commissioner for Works for barely four months.
He also pleaded with the governor to give Oduduwa temple, which is located in Ado Odo town, a befitting attention so as to enhance the tourism potential of state. He claimed that the area, being an ancient town has a renowned historical centre, which will surely enhance the tourist potential of state, one of which is the Oduduwa temple visited by Bishop Ajayi Crowther in 1845.
The group, however, thanked the governor for the Model Secondary School under construction in the town and solicited for a tertiary institution, which according to them will open the community to vast opportunities, improve its economy and provide jobs for the youths.
