A FEW days after a suspected notorious cult leader in Egbu, Owerri North Local Council of Imo State, Chimobi Iheme (a.ka Saka), was killed by the police after a gun duel, the community leaders have begun moves to re- introduce a security outfit known as Vigilance Group to the community.

The two monarchs of the autonomous community, Eze Felix Nwanna Egbukole and the President General of Egbu Town General Assembly, Simon Nkwazema made the disclosure to journalists at the weekend.

While Iheme was killed in the process of arresting the alleged cult members, following a shootout at Egbu Girls Secondary School, several others were injured and some 15 others arrested.

The group had allegedly invaded the community terrorising the indigenes, residents and visitors.

According to Egbukole, the entire community was embarrassed by the presence of the group, which he said, had made life unbearable for the dwellers, stressing that the re-introduction of vigilance group would assist the conventional security operatives in their work in the area.

In his contribution, Nkwazema said the issue of cultism and other social vices in the community had overwhelmed them, adding that such proactive complimentary security measures was the only option to secure their lives.

He blamed some parents who kicked against the sanctions the community had adopted before to checkmate the cult members.
