The senator representing Plateau North in the National Assembly on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Jonah David Jang, has condemned in strong terms last Sunday’s twin explosion in Jos.

The blasts occurred at the Yan Taya Central Mosque in Dilimi and Hajiya Talatu’s Restaurant on Bauchi Road, all in Jos North local council.

Senator Jang said that targeting innocent people was the height of man’s inhumanity to man, adding “Attacking the faithful during Tafsir at a mosque in the month of Ramdam has, once again, shown that Boko Haram is only a blood–thirsty group, whose agenda has nothing whatsoever to do with Islam.”

In a statement, yesterday, by his Personal Assistant/Media Aide, Mr. Chris Gyang, the lawmaker called for calm in order to allow law enforcement agents carry out necessary investigations, restating his belief that, “for such acts of terrorism to be contained, citizens must always be security conscious and summon the courage to report suspicious movements and individuals to the appropriate authorities.”

In a similar development, member representing Barkin Ladi/Riyom Federal Constituency in the National Assembly also of the PDP, Hon. Istifanus Gyang, has called on the Federal Government to prioritise the rehabilitation of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in his constituency following a series of attacks by unknown gunmen.

Gyang, in a statement, yesterday, in Jos, said he has taken the census of IDPs in his constituency and discovered that the State Government and the two local council areas that constitute the constituency cannot resettle and rehabilitate victims of the crisis. He decried the poor condition of living after visiting the IDPs, calling on President Buhari to come to their aid.

Besides, the Niger Delta Renaissance Movement (NDRM) has condemned in strong terms the multiple explosions at the multi-million-naira Nigeria Agip Oil Company (NAOC) Oil facility at Ebeocha oil field in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Council of Rivers State.

Preliminary investigations by the group contained in a statement signed by its President and Secretary, Messer’s Gabriel Elliot and Ebiri Emmanuel respectively, alleged that the multiple explosions, which were a result of dynamite detonation, were coordinated by some elements from some contracting firms that are familiar with the internal workings of the oil facility.
