The Nigerian Army’s 1 Division in Kaduna has announced upcoming field training exercises for its troops, urging residents to remain calm and go about their normal activities.

In a statement released in Kaduna yesterday, the division’s Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, Lt.-Col. Musa Yahaya disclosed that the division’s Training School would conduct its final field training exercise for Basic Battle Course 8 from November 11 to 15. He explained that the exercise would take place within the training area surrounding the school’s premises in Dalet Cantonment.

Yahaya stated, “The exercise is designed to assess students’ shooting skills and physical fitness, which will determine their readiness for real-life combat.”

The training will involve using blank ammunition and pyrotechnics to simulate realistic battle scenarios, both day and night. “Formations, units, and residents around the Division’s Training School will witness tactical drills that involve firing blank ammunition and pyrotechnics during this period,” he added.

Residents within the division’s general area of responsibility are advised not to panic and continue their regular activities.

However, they are encouraged to report security breaches to the 1 Division Headquarters.

“We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience and request your understanding during this period of the exercise,” Yahaya said.
