THE Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of Police in charge of Zone 6, AIG Tunde Ogunsakin has reiterated his commitment to put a permanent end to kidnapping in the South South region of the country.

The Police boss stated that the police and other security agencies in the zone have identified kidnapping as one of the major criminal activities bedeviling the region and are ready to put an end to the vice soon.

Ogunsakin made the disclosure during his courtesy visit to the palace of the Obong of Calabar, His Eminence Edidem Ekpo Okon Abasi-Otu V.

Ogunshakin, a renowned advocate of community policing, took advantage of the visit to strengthen the relationship between the police and the traditional institutions in Cross River State.

The Police boss expressed his love for Calabar ‘The Nation’s Paradise.”

The Zone 6 boss hailed residents of the state for always conducting themselves in a peaceful manner. He, however, frowned at the rising crime rate particularly in Calabar South and urged the police bosses in the area to stem the tide of the rising crime rate.

He also intimated the Obong of Calabar and his Council of Chiefs of the strategy being employed by the Zonal Command in addressing the spate of kidnapping and other crimes in that part of the state assuring that an end was imminent.

The Obong expressed his joy at the visit, urging the AIG not to relent in the fight against crime and criminals. He also pledged the full support of traditional rulers in the state while commending the Police of Zone 6 for the display of orderliness and acceptable conduct.
