The authority of Al-Hikmah University Ilorin (AUI) has assured parents and guardians of the safety of their children and wards.

The assurance followed the murder of Miss Awesu Mojisola, a 21-year-old female student of Kwara State College of Health Technology, Offa, in Kwara State.

The police had confirmed that the deceased was lured to Ilorin for a “non-existent” party organised by both Al-Hikmah and Summit Universities.

The deceased was said to have been killed by a male lover, Adebayo Happiness, who was introduced to her by one Blessing, another female friend.

Her remains were discovered at a dump site near the Aleniboro Area in Ilorin.

Reacting, the management of Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, said the suspect, Adebayo Happiness, must have used the university’s name to lure the girl and achieve his devilish act.

In a statement, the institution’s information officer, Femi Afolayan, said the school needed to allay the fears of parents and guardians.

“We need to clarify that at no time did students of Al-Hikmah University organise such a party as falsely claimed by the culprit. This clarification becomes imperative to assure parents, guardians and the university community of the safety of all our students throughout their stay on our campuses,” he said.

Friends and colleagues told The Guardian that the deceased signed out of the school two weeks ago.
