Lion kills worker at Obasanjo library’s zoo
The Ogun State Police Command has said that a 35-year-old zoo worker at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library in Abeokuta, Babaji Daule, was killed by a lion on Saturday.
Omolola Odutola, the spokesman for the state police command, released a statement on Sunday detailing the incident.
Daule, who was born in Bauchi State, reportedly forgot to secure the locks and barricade the lion’s enclosure before approaching the cage to feed the animal.
This oversight allowed the lion to escape and attack him, resulting in severe injuries to his neck, which ultimately led to his death.
The victim’s body has been taken to the mortuary at Ijaye General Hospital, while the lion was shot to free its grip on the handler.
