He highlighted the club’s successful sponsorship of a blind girl through higher education, enabling her reintegration into society.

“This club identified a young girl condemned to blindness at the school of the blind in Utako. This individual has completed her university education and is now making a valuable contribution to society.”

He highlighted the Lions Club’s global commitment to supporting those with visual impairments. “Lions worldwide are known as Knights of the Blind. One of our mandates focuses on sight rehabilitation and awareness.”

Coker stressed the importance of sight and the devastating impact its loss can have on individuals and communities.

“Sight is a precious gift that many of us take for granted. Sadly, for too many in our community, the loss of sight means the loss of independence and the ability to engage fully in life,” Coker said.

Salamatu Bello, the club’s immediate past president, also reported significant achievements during her tenure.

She revealed that the club welcomed 28 new members and chartered two new Lions Clubs: the Abuja Prestige Metro Lions Club and the Abuja Legend Metro Lions Club.
