CHIJIOKE Anthony Onyenwe King is a 27- year-old visually impaired man, who though prays to regain his sight, however, insisted he didn’t want to be pitied. He said he wants to achieve his dream of becoming a musician.

Narrating his ordeal, he said: “I came back from my shop that day and slept. When I woke up, I started feeling intense pains in my eye.”

According to King, he had no previous issues or pains of any sort in any of his eyes until that day, adding that he had gone to several hospitals within and outside the state, including private and government-owned hospitals, but his eyes have only grown worse, starting with the left eye before the right eye went blind.

According to the doctor’s report, the left eye is completely bad but the right eye could still be saved with a cornea transplant, which has to take place immediately, “before it deteriorates irreversibly.”

Anthony is therefore pleading with corporate organizations and well-meaning Nigerians to come to his aid in order to regain his sight and be useful to himself and the society.

According to him, he used to sell shoes in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital and was trying to save money to pursue a career in music before the problem started. Since then, he has had to rely on help from friends and family members and “this is unacceptable to him.”

The eye specialists at the Eye Foundation Hospital assured him that he would regain his right eye, once the surgery was carried out.

Anthony needs N2,000,000 to pay for his surgery and despite frantic efforts from family members and friends since last year, only about N400,000 has been raised. He is asking kind-hearted Nigerians to assist him with the balance so that he wouldn’t completely lose the use of the other eye as well.

He admitted that “he is a financial burden on his relatives as very scarce resources have been further depleted by his present medical condition,” adding that he wants to help himself, his younger ones and regain his sight to actualize his musical ambition.

Anthony Chijioke Onyenwe could be contacted on the following numbers: 08148318987 or 08185695781. Well meaning Nigerians can pay into his account: 0051243707, Diamond Bank. Account name is Chijioke Anthony Onyenwe.
