Man kills neighbour questioning why he is unmarried
An Indonesian man is facing trial after he allegedly killed his neighbour following persistent ridicule of him being single and unmarried, police reported on Tuesday.
Parlindungan Siregar, 45, attacked Asgim Irianto, 60, with a wooden object on July 29 in Tapanuli Selatan, northern Sumatra, said Assistant Police Commissioner Maria Marpaung. “He was determined to beat Mr. Asgim to death because of the frequent taunts about his single status,” Marpaung stated.
The altercation escalated when Irianto fell unconscious after being struck on the head, with Siregar continuing the assault until neighbours intervened. Despite being rushed to a local health centre, Irianto succumbed to his injuries en route.
Siregar was promptly apprehended and confessed to premeditating the attack. Marpaung added, “Siregar admitted to plotting his neighbour’s murder.”
