NANS hail Ododo for approving N72,000 minimum wage

The Senate of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has applauded Governor Usman Ododo of Kogi state on the implementation of the decision to approve a new minimum wage of ₦72,500.

NANS in a statement by Comrade Kolade Olaoluwa in a statement on Wednesday described Governor Ododo as a compassionate and visionary leader, one who places the welfare of the people at the forefront of his agenda.

“Amidst long-standing propaganda surrounding salary payment issues in Kogi State, Governor Ododo has demonstrated that actions speak louder than words. His bold step in raising the minimum wage shows his commitment to creating tangible change in the lives of Kogi’s workforce, cutting through the noise and proving that he is a leader of action, not just promises,” they noted.

The group described Ododo as a shining example of what young people in leadership who cannot only achieve but send a clear signal that Nigerian youth are ready to take up the mantle of leadership, offering fresh perspectives and innovative solutions for the challenges facing our nation.

They noted that Ododo’s approach to governance highlights the importance of giving youth more opportunities to lead, as they possess the drive and creativity needed to steer Nigeria towards progress.

They thereby stressed the need for the upcoming National Youth Confab being convened by President Bola Tinubu to reflect the broad diversity of Nigeria’s youth, cutting across political lines, regions, and social backgrounds.

They added: “By ensuring this broad-based representation, we can guarantee that the voices of young Nigerians, like Governor Ododo, who bring innovative ideas for national development, are heard and supported.

“Governor Ododo has set a standard for youth leadership in Nigeria, and it is my hope that the Youth Confab will inspire more of such dynamic leadership across the country. We look forward to seeing more young leaders step forward with bold solutions to drive Nigeria’s growth and development.”
