Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has mourned the victims of the Borgu boat mishap in Niger State, where over 30 lives were lost.

Writing on his X-handle, Obi described the frequent tragedies on Nigeria’s waterways and roads as a national emergency, urging strict enforcement of safety measures, regular vessel inspections, and investment in reliable transportation systems.

“The memory of those we have lost should guide our resolve to build transportation systems that value life above all,” he said, while consoling the families and the Niger State Government.
