The Niger State Police Command has disclosed that on 12th August 2025, at about 9:30 pm, based on credible intelligence received at Maje Division, some persons were planning to sell a suspected stolen truck along the Kaduna road, specifically the Kaduna-Abuja Expressway, in the Dikko area of Suleja Local Council in the state.
A statement issued to newsmen in Minna by the command spokesperson, SP Wasiu Abiodun, explained that as a result of this, the DPO Maje Division led his patrol team to the scene and four persons were arrested.
The suspects include Abdulrahman Tijani, 26, from Ankpa, Kogi State, and a staff member of the Tongyi Group of Companies in Edo State; Musa Zakari, 24, from Kogi State, a motor boy; Ojo Joseph, 29 years of Adogo, Kogi State and Mohammed Musa, 25 years of Ajaokuta, Kogi State.
The police spokesperson said the suspects were arrested with a yellow Howo truck bearing Reg. No LKJ 370 XJ, adding that during interrogation, Abdulrahman Tijani confessed that he drove the said truck to be sold, which was under his care as a driver of the company.
Tijani revealed that both Ojo Joseph and Mohammed Musa were mechanics he had hired to accompany him in case the vehicle broke down on the way.
The statement further stressed that the case will soon be transferred to SCID for further investigation.
In a similar development, the state police command stated that on August 17, 2025, at about 3:30 pm, two persons were seen with some suspects vandalising iron around a hotel under construction along Hill-Top Road in Minna, the state capital.
It explained that the police operatives of ‘B’ Division, Minna, moved to the scene and arrested Zubairu Sarki Bello and Sulaiman Yusuf of the Brighter area, Minna.
The statement added that during questioning, Zubairu claimed to be the security guard of the facility and said he was taking the iron to his house for safekeeping. However, both suspects remain under investigation.
