The Anambra State government has confirmed the release of the Commissioner for Youth Development, Patrick Aghamba, and his wife from kidnappers’ den.
Confirming their release on Sunday, Christian Aburime, who is the press secretary to Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, said the duo were regained their freedom on Saturday night without the payment of a ransom.
He attributed their release to divine intervention, saying, “The commissioner and his wife have been released by the special grace of God.”
The Guardian reports that Aghamba and his wife were kidnapped on Friday along the Edo-Kogi road while en route to Abuja. Aghamba’s aide, ABK Offiah, who was traveling with them, was tragically shot dead by the kidnappers.
The couple were on their way to attend the wedding of Adaora, the daughter of Anambra State Governor.
