Octogenarian Petitions Ambode, CJ Over Sons’ Detention
An 84-year-old woman, Alhaja Basirat Alogba Ifeshile, whose two children are being detained at Ikoyi prison over allegations of conspiracy to commit rape and armed robbery, has sought the intervention of Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode and the state Chief Judge.
Mrs. Alogba urged the authorities to release the suspects, who she said have been held in custody since last year.
The suspects, Morufu and his brother Adefewope, were arrested on March 26, 2014 over a crime, which the complainant’s counsel said are contrary to sections 258, 297 and 295(2)(a) of the Criminal law, No11, laws of Lagos state, 2011.
Speaking with The Guardian, the octogenarian, who is also the head of the Odo-Onasa royal family in Ikorodu, Lagos, pleaded that government rescue her from a sorrowful end by thoroughly investigating the matter with a view of releasing the suspects.
