As part of the ongoing efforts to strengthen grassroots security, enhance community policing and promote collaborative law enforcement, the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, has undertaken a familiarisation tour of the Sagamu and Owode Egba area commands.

The tour, which included engagements with traditional rulers, local government officials, corporate stakeholders and police personnel, reinforced the command’s commitment to a proactive, inclusive and partnership-driven approach to public safety.

Accompanied by the command’s management team and the State Chairman of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Comrade Lawal Abdullahi, Ojajuni paid a courtesy visit to the Akarigbo of Remoland, Oba Babatunde Ajayi. He thanked the monarch for his support of police initiatives and pledged sustained collaboration to strengthen security across the area.

On his part, the monarch commended the officers and men of the command for their professionalism. Reaffirming his support, he also praised the cordial relationship between the police and the host-communities.

The commissioner later visited the Sagamu Area Command, where he held an interactive session with community stakeholders, members of the Ogun State Hunters Association and police personnel. He commended their attendance despite the heavy rainfall, describing their presence as evidence of their commitment to public safety.

Ojajuni also commended the stakeholders and local hunters for their support in intelligence gathering, and commended police personnel for their performance during the recent Lagos-Ogun cross-border operation, code-named Operation Kosaye.

He urged the officers to remain disciplined, professional and patriotic to sustain peace and security across the state. He also commissioned a newly renovated divisional office at the Sagamu Divisional Headquarters, accompanied by the Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Peter Ogunyanwo (rtd), and representatives of Lafarge Sagamu, whom he commended for supporting police infrastructure through corporate social responsibility.

The CP later visited the Owode Egba Area Command, where he visited the Chairman of Obafemi Owode Local Council, Ambassador Lanre Ogunshola, and members of his cabinet.

He highlighted the strategic importance of the area as the state’s largest area command and a major industrial hub, noting that despite its security challenges, police personnel have remained committed to protecting lives and property.

Highlighting the successes of Operation Kosaye so far, Ojajuni assured residents that the special operation remains active, while thanking Governor Dapo Abiodun for supporting the initiative.

Meanwhile, the commissioner concluded the tour with a visit to the TGI Industrial Complex at the Sagamu Interchange, where he met the General Manager, Operations, Mr Miranda Grande, and other senior executives. Commending the company’s corporate social responsibility initiatives, he highlighted the relationship between job creation and crime prevention.
