Operatives of the Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps (So-Safe) have arrested a former student of Tai Solarin Federal University of Education, Ijagun, Ogun State, over alleged cult-related activities in Ogbo community, Ijagun.
The suspect, Abiola Sunday, 25, was reportedly arrested after months of surveillance by the So-Safe Corps for allegedly terrorising residents of Ogbo community and its environs.
The Corps Commander, Dr Soji Ganzallo, confirmed this to newsmen in a statement by the Corps’ Director of Information and Public Relations, Assistant Commander Adegunwa Adegbuyi, made available to newsmen yesterday in Abeokuta, the state capital.
Ganzallo said the suspect was arrested following intelligence received by the Acting Area Commander, Leguru Area Command, CSC Owoseni Joshua, from a surveillance team, prompting the swift mobilisation of operatives to Ifesowapo Community to apprehend him.
According to him, the suspect was a member of the Aiye cult group, known for terrorising residents of Ogbo community and visitors. He had escaped arrest some months ago, leading to the establishment of a surveillance team to track him down.
The statement said: “The 25-year-old suspect, Abiola Sunday, a resident of Imosan, was apprehended after months of surveillance. At about 1:30 pm on January 15, 2026, the Acting Area Commander, Leguru Area Command, CSC Owoseni Joshua, on receiving an intelligence report of his presence at Ifesowapo Community from the surveillance team, swiftly mobilised operatives for his arrest.
“Abiola, who is a former student of Tai Solarin Federal University of Education, Ijagun, is a known member of the Aiye Confraternity within the community of Ogbo, Ijagun, and has been a terror to its residents and visitors alike.”
The Commander said the suspect had been handed over to the Nigeria Police Force, Igbeba Area Command, Ijebu-Ode, for further investigation and possible prosecution.
He assured residents of the state of the corps’ continued efforts to protect lives and property in collaboration with other sister agencies.
