The Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), Dr Ayodele Ogunsan, has reaffirmed the Fund’s support for emergency response architecture in the state.
He lauded the Lagos State Command and Control Centre (LSCCC) for its professionalism, efficiency and pivotal role in safeguarding lives and property across Lagos.
Ogunsan spoke during a courtesy visit to the ultra-modern facility, where he was received by the General Manager of the Command and Control Centre, Mr Femi K. Giwa, alongside other members of the senior management team.
The visit formed part of the LSSTF leadership’s ongoing engagement with key security and emergency institutions across the state.
Owned by the Lagos State Government, the Command and Control Centre serves as the nerve centre of emergency management in Nigeria’s commercial hub and West Africa’s economic centre. It houses the emergency control room responsible for coordinating Lagos’ two emergency helplines, 767 and 112, which operate round the clock to respond to distress calls from residents and visitors.
From the central hub, emergency incidents are assessed, prioritised and routed to relevant response agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force, Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Lagos State Taskforce, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA)
Lagos State Fire.
And Re Service, Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS), Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Agency (LNSA), the Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA), and other first responders. This integrated approach ensures swift, coordinated and life-saving interventions across the state.
While touring the facility, Ogunsan expressed satisfaction with the operational standards, technological infrastructure and human capacity on display. He praised the service agents for their calm disposition under pressure, prompt handling of emergencies and consistent professionalism in managing high-volume and high-stress situations.
“The efficiency of this Centre underscores Lagos State’s commitment to proactive governance and citizen safety,” Ogunsan said. “What we have seen here is a blend of technology, discipline and dedication to service. These officers are truly the silent guardians behind many lives saved daily.”
He reaffirmed the LSSTF’s commitment to strengthening the operational capacity of the Command and Control Centre, assuring Giwa and his team of continued institutional support.
According to him, the Fund remains committed to mobilising resources from both the public and private sectors to enhance security infrastructure and support frontline agencies across Lagos State.
The visit comes shortly after the LSSTF presented an operational vehicle to the Command and Control Centre, a move seen as part of broader efforts to improve mobility, coordination and response efficiency.
In his remarks, Giwa thanked the LSSTF for its consistent interventions, describing the Fund as a dependable partner in Lagos State’s security and emergency response framework. He said sustained support would further enhance service delivery and strengthen public confidence in the state’s emergency management system.
