THE Ondo State Police Command yesterday killed one suspected armed robber in a gun duel, while four others escaped with several degrees of wounds.

  The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Wole Ogodo said the command got a distress call from the victim that armed robbers had forcibly entered into her apartment at Ala, Oba-Ile, around 3.30am.

  In a prompt response, the PPRO said the men of the Police Force mobilized and swung into action and in the gun battle that ensued between the hoodlums and the security operatives, one of the robbers fell while others escaped with bullet wounds.

  According to the Police, deadly weapons that were recovered from the bandits included, one locally made pistol, cutlass and other dangerous tools for burglary. 

   And at the moment, the identity of the dead suspect is yet to be known, as investigation is ongoing at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

  Ogodo further said that the deadly armed bandits had been perpetrating their dastard and nefarious acts on members of Oba-Ile community in Akure North Local Council before nemesis caught up with them.

 He urged the people of the state to cooperate with the police by providing adequate and reliable information to the

Police to enable them curtail the activities of the men of the under-world in the state.

  The victim, a middle-aged woman, who pleaded anonymity, said the armed robbers entered her house after cutting the burglary with an iron cutter. 

  She thanked the police for their swift response to her distress call to foil the robbery attack.
