Kogi State governor, Idris Wada

Ahead of the 2016 governorship election in Kogi State, the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said it would ensure a transparent and all-inclusive selection process that would guarantee a level playing ground for all members of the party in the state in line with the party’s constitution.

The NWC’s position is coming against the backdrop of rumours that the incumbent Governor Idris Wada and some principal officers of the party are not on good terms.

National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Olisa Metuh urged the members to work towards building the party ahead of the 2016 governorship election in Kogi, stressing that a divided house cannot stand.

While he urged the party to disregard the false news making the rounds that Wada was embarrassed by the NWC for non-performance, Metuh posited that the rumour has no substance “it is totally false and mischievous”.

He averred that Wada was never kept waiting for hours during his visit to the National Secretariat of the PDP.

He explained that Governor Wada arrived the national secretariat some minutes ahead of the Acting National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus and was with members of the National Working Committee (NWC) before the arrival of the Acting National Chairman.

Soon after, the governor and his entourage met with the Acting National Chairman and had very useful discussions. The governor threw more light on the congresses held in his state and the composition of the state local organizing committee. The National Working Committee, at the end of the meeting resolved to look into the issues raised and take appropriate decisions on them.”

The NWC assures that it holds Governor Wada and other notable members of the PDP, who have contributed brilliantly to the development of the party and Kogi, in high esteem.

On Wada, the party posited the governor has continued to discharge his duties with great candor and commitment, as it urged the media to ensure that they always crosscheck their facts before going to press.
