Police arrest suspected cultist, others, recover pistol, vehicle parts

Operatives of the Lagos State Rapid Response Squad (RRS) have arrested a suspected cultist in possession of a locally made pistol and two live rounds of ammunition in a commercial bus in Oshodi.

The arrest occurred around 10:00 p.m. last Wednesday at Toyota Bus Stop, following actionable intelligence.

In a separate operation, RRS operatives apprehended two suspected vehicle vandals early on Saturday while they were loading six Ford Escape tyres, rims, and other vehicle parts into a Suzuki mini bus with registration number LSD 736 YK beside Otedola Bridge.

The suspects, identified as 25-year-old Kazeem Oyebola and 35-year-old Olamilekan Babalola, claimed they were contracted to transport the items from Otedola Bridge to Agege. Two other suspects involved in the operation are currently at large .

Preliminary investigations revealed that the vehicle parts were stolen from cars parked for repairs at a mechanic workshop near Otedola Bridge. Workers at the workshop were alarmed to discover the theft on Saturday morning and later confirmed the recovery of the missing items after meeting with RRS operatives.

Commander of the RRS, CSP Shola Jejeloye, assured the mechanics that efforts are underway to apprehend the two fleeing suspects.

The arrested individuals are assisting the police with further investigations.
