The Lagos State Police Command has arrested three suspected cultists, Adenuga Tosin, Jesutofunmi Ezekiel, and Adeniji Juwon, who were found in possession of a firearm and ammunition.
The command stated that the arrest and recovery resulted from a credible tip-off, which led to a well-coordinated, intelligence-led operation by one of the command’s tactical teams along the Owode-Ikorodu axis.
During the operation, the suspects were discovered with a locally made pistol and six live cartridges. Investigations revealed that they are active members of a cult group known for engaging in violent crimes.
Further investigations uncovered that the suspects played significant roles in facilitating the movement and distribution of illegal firearms across various parts of Lagos State, posing a serious threat to public safety.
The command’s spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, said: “Efforts are ongoing to apprehend other wanted members of the group. Upon the conclusion of the investigation, the arrested suspects will be charged to court following due process and the rule of law.”
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, reaffirmed the command’s zero-tolerance stance on cultism and criminality. He urged residents to provide timely information to support the police, as the command remains dedicated to maintaining peace across Lagos State.
