Operatives of the Rivers State Police Command have arrested two suspected kidnappers allegedly involved in the abduction of a 24-year-old woman in Igbo Etche.
The suspects, identified as Ifeanyi Chukwu Alozie and Miracle Nwimene, both aged 25, were apprehended by operatives of the Command’s Special Operations and Intelligence Team (SOIT) at their hideout in Egwi, Etche.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, the arrests followed actionable intelligence received on September 22, 2025. The operatives trailed the suspects to their hideout, leading to their capture.
The suspects allegedly lured their victim through a dating site to Igbo Etche, where she was kidnapped on September 21, 2025. During her captivity, they reportedly collected a ransom of ₦200,000 from her relatives before releasing her.
Iringe-Koko said the suspects are currently in custody while investigations continue to track down other members of the gang still at large. She added that the victim has been debriefed and reunited with her family.
The Commissioner of Police, Rivers State, CP Olugbenga Adepoju, commended the operatives for their bravery and professionalism in apprehending the suspects.
He assured residents of the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property while urging citizens to exercise caution when using online dating platforms, noting the risks associated with such interactions.
